A minimalist canvas for creative exploration.


Working with the amazing team at Calvin Klein as Senior Coordinator of 3D Creative, we were tasked with imagining, exploring, and creating product displays, window display designs, and in store installations. All were to be directly inspired by the upcoming seasonal and/or product campaigns. We would pull from the material usage of the products, campaign photo shoots, all while incorporating and juxtaposing the minimal and elegant CK style with the “loud” statements behind the products and campaigns.

The select projects below are the final design concept renderings which CK will roll out in the near future, and are currently in process of prototyping/fabrication. The exception is to the CK Underwear “Hazard” campaign which went live in 2020.


CK ONe (US)

The iconic CK One fragrance was the focus and inspiration for the new displays which would be featuring not only the fragrance, but also a range of product. Needing to be adaptable and of course stand out from the crowd of other fashion brand displays, we wanted to utilize the captivating photoshoots as the base to the new displays. For the US market, the feature product would be the CK One fragrance plus mens & womens CK Underwear.

As there were new CK commercials being shot at the same time, and with commercials from Calvin Klein also being iconic in their own ways, we thought it would be great to reflect on the early days of CK and somehow make those part of select display units.

Go big or go home.

Next, we wanted to create an in store instalation/experience for all of the CK One fragrance plus Mens and Womens Underwear focus. Pulling from the graphic treatment created for this campaign, we were inspired by the "“maze” and journey in the graphic. From that we formed a navigation throughout the product creating a one of a kind CK shopping experience.

CK One + CK Jeans (EU)

For the European market, the focus was to be on the CK One fragrance and the product range of CK Jeans.
Utilizing the original design we made for the US market, we adapted it to be more of a hang rack style to showcase the CK Jeans line.

CK Underwear FW 2019

For the FW 2019 season, the focus of the CK Underwear line was to be on two different sides of it. One being the everyday wear and the other side being the more luxury side of the CK Underwear line.

Flex your calvins

FW 2019 saw the release of the Compact Flex CK Underwear line. We automatically dress inspiration from the product name and the amazing flex we found when we tested the product. Wanting to make the obvious connection to the “flex” in the new line of underwear, we decided to create hanging showcase displays which conveyed the flex in a beautiful way. Also drawing further inspiration from the product packaging, we felt it was be great to make a larger than life underwear product package to hold the product mannequins.

Taking all the “ingredients” to our own iconic Austin BBQ experience, I then created the 3D mock up.

 
 

Luxury Redefined

For the more luxurious side of CK Underwear, we wanted to play on the term Luxury and utilize materials which gave off the look and feel of being high end. At the same time, we wanted the materials to also help highlight the product as the luxury items they are.

CK Underwear Hazard FW 2019 Campaign

The FW 2019 CKU product under the Hazard campaign, drew inspiration from the materials and items found in the many construction areas in New York City. Orange lights, reflective and fluorescent materials were an obvious choice when creating the Hazard line of product. With that in mind, we wanted to take from this original inspiration and put it to use in our display, installation, and window designs for this campaign. Starting with in store hang rack displays and then in store shopping installations, we wanted to make it feel like you were entering a construction site…a very fashionable one of course.

CK Underwear Window display at Macy’s Herald Square, Nyc

Having the opportunity to create window displays for the famous and tourist heavy Macy’s at Herald Square in New York City was something we knew we had to deliver big on. Known for some of the best window displays ever, especially around the Holiday times, and with all the eyes that would be seeing these windows we needed to deliver big, while keeping the Calvin Klein standard at the forefront but still pushing it to get the attention we wanted.
Again drawing from the construction inspiration of the Hazard CKU product line, we felt why not make it an extension of the displays and shoppable installations. Really put that “under construction” look and feel into the windows while keeping them “clean” and bright. Below you can see the renders to reality photos take after installation at Macy’s Herald Square.
