For Your Consideration(FYC)

For Your Consideration is a heading frequently used in advertisements in entertainment trade publications such as Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. They are specifically directed towards members of groups in the entertainment industry, most commonly the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which annually presents the Academy Awards, or the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences which presents the Primetime Emmy Awards for television.
Each year, the major movie studios, and to a lesser extent their affiliated television studios and television networks, spend large sums of money on “For Your Consideration” ads extolling the alleged virtues of their films or programs released over the previous year. Not surprisingly, the quantity/quality of such ads has increased dramatically, as major firms vie to win the top awards, hoping that the associated publicity will result in more viewers and greater revenues.

From FYC to FYSee

An Emmy Award, or simply Emmy, is a trophy presented at one of the numerous annual American events or competitions that each recognize achievements in a particular sector of the television industry. The Emmy is considered one of the four major entertainment awards in the United States.
Prior to the 2018 Emmys, Netflix contacted We’re Magnetic for our help in creating a one of a kind experience. They wanted to make an impact and draw attention to their beloved lineup of shows, to get more buzz going and show Hollywood why their shows were just as good, if not better, as other production studios. What better way to do this than to not just have people watch their shows in screeners, but rather, have them “live” the shows they loved, for a brief moment and keep an unforgettable memory. They wanted it to go from FYC to FYSEE…”see” what they did there 😉.

Lets Make some Magic

We knew the ultimate goal was to create a buzz-worthy, shareable and experiential space for press and voting members of The Emmy Awards. We also knew that at the end of the day, we are fans of amazing content and we should make everyone feel the excitement! After work shopping and brainstorming sessions, it was clear that to achieve all, we had to integrate more interactive and multi sensory elements to the space which will give guests something to EXPERIENCE in addition to SEE.

The Lay of the land.

While starting to design the individual show spaces, we were also thinking of and designing the journey flow the guests would take at the experience. We wanted it to be special and unique, while also having some underlying fun and connections.

You’re about to embark on a journey through your favorite shows & discover new ones.

Netflix has gotten pretty good at recommending your next favorite show, and we were determined to have guests experience that process IRL. With the ability to choose their track/journey or…jump around just like one might do when watching at home. As they roam the exhibit, we invited guests to follow the track of their choice.

You may have noticed the set of colorful lines snaking along the ground. Each track contains a specific group of shows that members often watched together, connected by some special sauce (themes? dialogue? humor? characters? It’s up to you to figure it out!). Many of the experiences have interactive aspects meant to be touched, photographed, selfied, and some of them will even give you a little piece of Netflix to take home with you.

The Crown

Based on an award-winning play ("The Audience") by showrunner Peter Morgan, this lavish, Netflix-original drama chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II from the 1940s to modern times. The series begins with an inside look at the early reign of the queen, who ascended the throne at age 25 after the death of her father, King George VI. As the decades pass, personal intrigues, romances, and political rivalries are revealed that played a big role in events that shaped the later years of the 20th century.

Stranger Things

In 1980s Indiana, a group of young friends witness supernatural forces and secret government exploits. As they search for answers, the children unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries. For this experience, we wanted to create some of the most iconic locations seen in Stranger Things.

This drama series stars Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde, a financial planner who relocates his family from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Ozarks. With wife Wendy and their two kids in tow, Marty is on the move after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, forcing him to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug lord in order to keep his family safe. While the Byrdes' fate hangs in the balance, the dire circumstances force the fractured family to reconnect.

On the run, Roy seeks refuge in isolated mining town La Belle, N.M., where he lives with Alice Fletcher, a hardened widower and outcast.
